“I knew exactly what I wanted, and we got that,” Darius says.

“It wasn’t the kind of thing where you figured it out on the fly.”

Then, they shot for about a month all in chronological order, with no rehearsals.

That level of control reflects Darius' verite philosophy as a director.

“It’s about capturing actual life on the screen.

Filmmaking, by definition, often squelches life.

“That was a wild and wonderful gamble,” Darius says.

This was actually on purpose.”
