Because no matter how much he changes or grows, Red cannot outrun his past.

“But it’salwayswho you are.”

Dembe is rightwe know it, and Reddington knows it too.

And if so, how can Reddington protect both when one stands as a direct threat to the other?

ANNE

This episode opens somewhere between a sitcom and a rom-com.

Anne insists that she knows enough.

She just doesn’t know he’s Raymond Reddington.

And so, she also doesn’t know the kind of risk thathishigh-risk life poses to her.

Honeymoon period = over.

Luckily, she doesn’t have to do that…

In fact, they’ve already arrived.

The presumably bulletproof glass doesn’t even slow the slug down.

The remaining officers get on the ground, and Lois takes over.

And if he tries to escape, she’ll shoot him.

Anne calls Red selfish for ignoring the fact that escaping intoherlife would inexorably draw her intohislife as well.

And of course, I’ve already mentioned Lois' promise to shoot Reddington if he tried to escape.

But as it turns out, that’s not entirely true!

When Anne gets home, she pops her trunk, and out crawls Raymond Reddington.

But we’ll never know.

Reddington chokes out one word, with nine letters instead of four: “Elizabeth.”
