Her laughter is genuine, her voice sweet (but not bitter).

“It’s a grounded drama with a twist of dark comedy,” she explains.

“It seemed like it would be a different experience than what I’d spent years doing.

We’re telling a true crime story with a bit of levity.”

As the story unfolds on screen, it’s also still unfolding in real life.

She has yet to face trial.

Ultimately, viewers will come to their own conclusions about both Hupp’s guilt and Zellweger’s portrayal.

“I’m really allergic to adhesive,” she says with a laugh.
