The founding member of the Wailers with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh died Tuesday morning in Jamaica.

Wailer’s manager confirmed the news to theJamaica Observer, saying, “Yes.

He died about 8:00 this morning.

In 2016, Wailer toldAfropopin an interview, “The Wailers are responsible for the Wailers' sound.

Wailer’s solo albums include 1976’sBlackheart Manand 1981’sRock ‘n’ Groove.

Roots Classics, and 1995’sHall of Fame: A Tribute to Bob Marley’s 50th Anniversary.

Wailer was the last surviving member of that original trio.

Marley died of cancer in 1981, and Tosh was killed at his St. Andrew home in 1987.
