In 2005, a young athlete by the name Ray Ray McElrathbey went to Clemson University to play football.

Fifteen years later, his inspirational story of overcoming financial and emotional hardship is coming toDisney+.

The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin (MarshallandBoomerang).

Hudlin is a former president of BET who has an Oscar nomination for producing 2012’sDjango Unchained.

It’s a school with an incredible legacy of winning football teams," Hudlin says.

Hudlin also saw parallels to his own story of overcoming the odds.

“Coming from a small town, being thrown into a high-pressure environment and that feeling of treading water.

I know the feeling when failure is not an option.”
