What if you could watch every episode ofBreaking BadandStranger Things50 percent faster?

Thats a feature that Netflix is quietly testing, and its quickly drawn a big backlash from Hollywood creatives.

The first-blush response from industry creatives, however, was not good.

Turns out filmmakers dont like the idea of viewers watching their painstakingly crafted work on Chimpmunks mode.

Save me the time.

I will win but it will take a ton of time.

Dont f with our timing.

We give you nice things.

Leave them as they were intended to be seen.

There is NO WAY @netflix will move forward with this.

That would mean they are completely taking control of everyone elses art and destroying it.

Netflix is far better than that.

Am I right Netflix?

Netflix released a statement assuring the feature is only being tested and is not permanent… yet.

Were always experimenting with new ways to help members use Netflix, a spokesperson said in a statement.

This test makes it possible to vary the speed at which people watch shows on their mobiles.

As with any test, it may not become a permanent feature on Netflix.

UPDATE: Netflix is defending the test and says theyre taking creative concerns into account.

Given the questions being raised, I wanted to share more details about whats happening … Its a feature that has long been available on DVD players and has been frequently requested by our members.

Weve been sensitive to creator concerns and havent included bigger screens, in particular TVs, in this test.

We have no plans to roll any of these tests out in the short term.

And whether we introduce these features for everyone at some point will depend on the feedback we receive.
