From legendary pioneer to childrens swimming-pool game,Marco Polois setting off to explore some brand new territory: cable television.
Starzannounced today that, in conjunction with the Weinstein Company and Electus, the cable connection will bring the 13th-century explorer to life for 21st-century audiences.Marco Polois written and created by John Fusco (Young Guns, Hidalgo), who will also serve as executive producer, alongside Electus Ben Silverman and Bob and Harvey Weinstein.
According to the release, the upcoming series will be a fantastical martial-arts epic, chronicling the famous adventurers early years in the court of Kublai Khan.
Harvey Weinstein, who originally developed the idea and brought on Fusco to write the script, said in a statement, The stories and adventures of Marco Polo are timeless and we couldnt be more excited to work with Starz and Electus on this project.
We look forward to beginning production next year on what is sure to be a fascinating, martial-arts filled telling of one of historys greatest explorers.
