Underwood announced his engagement to boyfriend, political strategist Jordan C. Brown,exclusively to PEOPLEon Monday.

The formerBachelorcontestantcame out as gayin April 2021 and has been attached to Brown since last fall.
“I’m extremely happy!
2021 was the most transformative year of my life,” he added.
Both Brown and Underwood confirmed the news of their engagement on their social media pages.

He was the first lead ofThe Bachelorfranchise to come out as gay.
