Jefferson Pierces family will be feeling the pressure of the Markovian conflict asBlack Lightningseason 3 lights up.

The family is probably the most disjointed weve ever had it, Cress Williams tells EW.

Its the whole Markovian conflict.

So far, Williams has gotten to spend a lot more time with Duke than he did last season.

Although Jefferson is physically separated from his family, they arent too far from his thoughts.

That sacrifice is what really propels him at the beginning of the season.

The Markovian conflict also has a big effect on the show as a whole.

Its larger, says Williams.

Each season weve progressively gotten bigger.

So weve moved onto an even bigger scale now that weve added like Markovia into everything.

Its still about Freeland, but its almost more of a global scale and scope.

Black Lightningreturns Monday, Oct. 7, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the CW.
